Leaving the product behind: Embracing broader solutions and a new career path at Miebach

Over the past 19 years in logistics and supply chain, 15 of which I’ve spent at Miebach, I’ve had the privilege of growing within an industry that I’m deeply passionate about. Currently a Senior Manager at our Frankfurt office, I joined Miebach in 2011 after starting my career as a Sales Engineer for logistic solutions at an integrator. The supportive culture and teamwork at Miebach turned what could have been a challenging transition into one of the most rewarding phases of my professional journey.
Starting off, the onboarding program at Miebach was a standout experience. The comprehensive training helped me adequately prepare for the time ahead and my new role and to quickly integrate into the new team. I learned how to communicate in critical situations in challenging projects and how to make the best use of our Miebach specific tools for Capex and Opex and process time estimation. During the transition to becoming a consultant, one aspect I thoroughly enjoyed was being able to take on a much broader approach to logistical questions/challenges than in my previous job.
Of course, adapting to my new role wasn’t without its challenges. One of the biggest adjustments was learning to navigate in a wider range of possible solutions not limited to the product portfolio of one supplier, and the degree of freedom I now have in designing solutions for . But, coming from a manufacturing environment, I’ve found that understanding the operational challenges manufacturers face has given me an edge in assessing the feasibility of logistics solutions. It’s rewarding to see how my prior experience adds value not only to my team but also to our clients. But most importantly, besides the theoretical support I’ve received, I appreciated the open door policy lived at Miebach. Whenever I needed support, I could ask for it and get input from other colleagues, no matter their level of hierarchy. Working with each and every one of the Miebachians inspires me and we push each other to achieve greater results for the clients. It’s all about teamwork and honoring everyone's contributions.
In my day-to-day work, I was surprised to find that despite a high workload, everyone at Miebach is open to collaboration and willing to answer questions. I appreciate the down-to-earth awareness of the consultants that there is not just one solution, but that everyone has a certain understanding of logistics. While everyone is knowledgeable in their respective field, the team acknowledges that no one has all the answers, creating an environment where finding the best solution for the client is truly a team . An example for that is recurringly found in designing a picking solution for the client. It‘s always difficult to design the optimal picking solution. While one person concentrates on efficiency another one is very good in ergonomics and the next one considers even IT aspects. This team dynamic results in the best solutions for the client, crafted together as a team.
Besides the familiar changes in the way the world works, such as remote work and an increase in online meetings, the meetings we do hold are much more intense compared to my previous role. Everyone is motivated to drive innovation and think outside the box. Miebach actively supports this creative spirit and gives us the freedom to explore new ideas. For example, I had the opportunity to organize and conduct a Miebach internal international training together with AutoStore®, an innovative cube storage supplier. The questions and discussions that arised are meanwhile standard input for Miebach‘s logistics design approach.
While my current job looks very different from my previous one, I’m glad I took on the challenge of changing my career paths - and got rewarded. If you’re considering joining Miebach, my advice would be simple: be ready to embrace collaboration, innovation, and a culture that values both individual and team contributions. We support each other and Miebach supports us in doing what we are best at – for us, for the clients, and the future of supply chains.
