From the classroom to Miebach:

Starting my career on the right foot

24.07.2025 | By Guillermo Pérez

After completing my studies at Coventry University and as part of my Master’s in International Supply Chain & Purchasing at Université Catholique de Lyon, I needed to find a place to do my internship and apply all the theoretical knowledge I’d gained in a real-world context. I was fortunate enough to land at Miebach, a leading Supply Chain consultancy that works across a wide range of industries, clients, and projects; the perfect setting for someone just starting out in the professional world, to learn and grow.

An Internship with Real Value

There are plenty of reasons why I would describe Miebach as an ideal place to begin a career, but what stood out the most to me was the level of responsibility, training, and trust they give to interns. That kind of exposure really speeds up your learning curve.

My time at Miebach has been incredibly enriching and rewarding. I was assigned tasks that had a direct impact on project success, and I had the chance to attend key internal and external meetings where my input was genuinely valued. For someone young and new to the field, it’s a privilege to feel heard and respected in a room full of such experienced professionals, and that has a huge positive effect on your motivation and confidence.

Another major factor in making this experience so positive was the constant support I received from both my colleagues and managers. Everyone was always willing to answer my questions and take the time to ensure I was aligned with the team.

A Fantastic Work Environment

I feel lucky to have found a company with such a warm and welcoming team. From day one, the atmosphere at Miebach’s Madrid office made me feel at ease, and I quickly realized these were people I genuinely enjoyed being around. That first impression only grew stronger over the months.

One thing that really impressed me was the strong connection between offices. Naturally, I worked most closely with the Madrid team, but I also had the chance to connect with colleagues in the Barcelona office and even meet people from Miebach teams beyond Spain.

What I Take with Me

In just a few months, I’ve learned and experienced so much, starting with technical knowledge. One of Miebach’s specialties that I had the chance to work on is Network Design, a complex area that taught me a lot. I also developed strong skills in data analysis tools and best practices in data visualization.

Beyond the technical side, I had the opportunity to grow my soft skills thanks to the mentorship of attentive, skilled, and dedicated professionals. I had the chance to see the commercial side of consulting first-hand and even got to work directly on client proposals myself. It’s an area that really caught my attention and gave me a new perspective on how projects are brought to life from the very beginning. I was also impressed by Miebach’s storytelling approach, a key part of making presentations impactful, and by the different leadership styles I observed up close.

Lastly, I must come back to the people. Miebach is not only home to outstanding professionals, but also to genuinely kind and approachable individuals. I’m truly grateful for the people I’ve met during this journey.

I feel incredibly lucky to have spent these months interning at such a great company, a place where I’ve gained valuable knowledge and experienced significant personal and professional growth. As I head into the second year of my master’s, I do so with a much broader understanding of how to apply what I’ve learned in class, thanks to an unforgettable and deeply enriching experience. Thank you, Miebach Consulting, for giving me this amazing opportunity!
