My Miebach Summer: Exploring Supply Chain Consulting

20.10.2025 | By Pallavi Jayanty, Miebach

My career has taken me on quite an adventure so far. From Pune, India, over Lausanne, Switzerland to Frankfurt, Germany.

After earning my bachelor’s degree in economics, business, and psychology, I started my career in consulting. I had spent four years at PwC in Risk Consulting and three years at EY in People Consulting.  During this time, I gained a lot of exposure to diverse industries and projects across India, Kuwait, and Denmark. Along the way, I even tried my hand at entrepreneurship by starting a small subscription box business for hair accessories. These experiences made me realize how much I value learning, problem-solving, and building something meaningful. That’s why I decided to pursue an MBA at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland. The MBA that has not only sharpened my business and leadership skills but also sparked a new passion: operations and supply chain. I knew I wanted to explore this field further during my MBA internship, ideally in a role where I could combine my consulting background with my curiosity for supply chain. That’s what led me to Miebach Consulting.

Arriving at the Frankfurt office, I immediately felt welcomed. Over the course of two months, I had the chance to immerse myself in projects that stretched me in new directions. I explored how feasible it is to use AI to manage supply chain risks, supported the further development of Miebach’s change management offerings by creating trainings and workshops, and mapped the end-to-end supply chain planning and execution process in different projects in the fashion industry. Each task gave me the chance to apply skills I had built in consulting, while also opening my eyes to the fascinating complexity of modern supply chains.

The amount of accurate planning and management that goes into getting us that item we so easily get at our doorstep is marvelous. The kind of warehouse automation that exists today is also fascinating. Demand forecasting, logistics planning, warehouse management – behind the scenes, it’s a world of sophisticated processes and impressive technology. I enjoyed learning so much more about the different conveyor systems, pockets, autonomous mobile robots, robotic picking system, and shuttle systems.

Of course, not everything was new. I loved that the internship did both: utilize my past experience and teach me new things. My experience in change management helped me shape workshops and trainings, while my risk consulting background was invaluable when contributing to an enterprise risk management framework. Having presented to senior stakeholders in the past, I also felt comfortable engaging with colleagues across levels at Miebach, which helped me build rapport quickly.

But what made my internship truly memorable were the people. My colleagues’ self-motivation, curiosity, and generosity inspired me every day. They took the time to share their projects with me, invited me to lunch, and made me feel like part of the team from the start. The culture of collaboration and genuine care for each other was something I highly appreciated. There were also plenty of lighter moments that made the experience special. My last day coincided with the Frankfurt office summer party – a perfect farewell filled with laughter, homemade food, and BBQ. And I can’t forget the snack rack in the office, always stocked with local German treats that quickly became my favorites.

Looking back, my internship at Miebach was more than just a professional opportunity. It was a journey of learning, contributing, and connecting.

It strengthened my passion for supply chain, gave me new perspectives to take back to my MBA, and left me with lasting memories of both the projects I worked on and the people I met.
