Project Background

Since SAP is phasing out its WM module, the client decided it was time to modernize their supply chain operations by transitioning to the newer EWM system. For that, they decided to use an external systems integrator, Westernacher Consulting, to support with the implementation across three facilities in the states of Indiana, Connecticut, & California

Early on in the planning stages, the team recognized that a shift this big could be a shock to the organization. To manage that risk, the client wanted to have a dedicated OCM team supporting the IT Design & Operations teams with change support during design & implementation and for warehouse associates to have a successful user experience. Miebach was asked to consult & coach OCM activities for the upcoming SAP EWM Implementation.

Driving Success Through People-First Change Management

Miebach combined proven change management techniques with strong emotional intelligence to ensure the project was a success. Instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all model, the team used specific tools like force field analysis and change readiness assessments to build a practical execution plan. This approach led to high levels of customer satisfaction because the strategy was tailored to the actual needs of the business.

The work began with thorough stakeholder interviews. These conversations helped the team pinpoint exactly where people felt hesitant about the shift to SAP EWM. Using those insights, Miebach developed a clear communication strategy to keep everyone informed.

A major priority was making sure the warehouse associates felt confident using the new system from day one. To support this, Miebach led "Train-the-Trainer" sessions that focused on more than just technical steps. They coached trainers on how to improve the user experience and keep their teams engaged throughout the transition. When COVID travel restrictions made in-person meetings impossible, the team quickly adapted. They successfully led virtual workshops for over 40 cross-functional leaders, which kept the project’s momentum on track.
