Alfagres - a Colombian manufacturer of wall and floor coverings – plans to redesign its national supply chain structure in order to meet future growth and customer needs and to reduce logistics costs. Miebach Consulting Colombia supported Alfagres in this project.
The supply chain study developed by Miebach Consulting revealed saving potentials of 6 percent by optimizing logistics transports, considering a network structure of 9 distribution centers. These centers are located in Soacha (2), Medellin, Cali, Bucaramanga, Monteria, Ibagué, Pasto and Barranquilla, which also serves as an additional hub for Alfagres’s exports.
Carlos Gomez Andrade, engineer of logistics projects at Alfagres, S.A. and project manager, says: "Our company has been facing and overcoming big challenges in order to optimize the customer experience. The technological innovations of the production processes, the growing portfolio of products and the redesign of channels and points of sales had to be accompanied by a logistics strategy that allows to better serve our customers. This strategy was designed in collaboration with Miebach Consulting, who managed to analyze very well the complexity of our business and planned a redesign of the existing distribution network to reduce complexity and increase our service levels”.
