More Than Just an Intern: My Miebach Journey
25.08.2025 | By Mihika Sane, Miebach
Wake up, get ready, work my 9-5, go to the gym, shower, eat dinner, watch a show, sleep.
If you asked me what a typical day in my life looked like as an intern in general – that would be it. A painfully average cycle of the eight activities that make up “adulting”.
But if you asked me what a day in my life looked like as an intern at Miebach – the answer would be entirely different.
Ever since I was a kid, my mom would say I had a knack for organizing. Whether it was my toy drawer or my weekly schedule, I loved making things easy and visually satisfying. I called it “aesthetic optimization”.
So, what better path to take than into the world of optimization itself – Industrial Engineering?
As I am working towards my bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering, I’ve been lucky to intern across a range of industries – from logistics and aviation to supply chain – each teaching me something new about my interests and my strengths. But over the past few years, one question kept coming up: Is this the path I see myself on long-term?
There’s one part of me that “aesthetic optimization” alone can’t explain – my love for working with people. I thrive in collaborative spaces where I’m not just buried in Excel, but building solutions with others. Naturally, consulting had always been at the back of my mind. The fast-paced life and the exposure to almost any industry – how could it not be? But the real dream was to find something that merged both worlds: technical IE problem-solving and people-first work.
Then I found Miebach.
I joined as an Analyst Intern in May 2025. The first week was the “Intern Bootcamp” – a week packed with different trainings focused on data analysis techniques, effective communication, network and concept design, and Miebach’s practices. I didn’t just learn about the company, I gained tools to set myself up for success in consulting.
From that point on, I wasn’t “just an intern”, I was part of the team. I contributed to both internal initiatives and client-facing projects, visited multiple client sites, and learned from experts in the field. Not once did I find myself sitting at my desk, waiting for something to work on. Everyone was eager to ensure I had a meaningful experience and to support me while I figured things out.
I finally learned what consulting is truly about: staying curious, communicating clearly, and caring deeply about the problem in front of you.
The people at Miebach made all the difference. From post-work pickleball games to potlucks, happy hours, and amazing conversations, I was welcomed with open arms. Every team member I met radiated the same pride and passion for what they do – and I quickly started feeling it too.
Now, as I near the end of my internship, I can confidently say I have found what I was looking for – not just a job or a role, but a place where I can bring every part of myself to the table. With my final year of college coming up, I’m incredibly grateful to have found a company I genuinely hope to return to.
I just know the little version of me – the one organizing her toys into perfect rows – would be proud of how far I’ve come.
